If you have been juggling screenshots of exam dates, here is one place to look. The Federal Government has proposed a harmonised 2027 calendar for the major Nigerian exams. It is a proposal, not a final timetable, and this page says clearly which parts are known and which are not.

The proposed 2027 dates

ExamProposed 2027 datesResults target
JAMB UTME15 to 25 March 2027March 2027
NECO SSCE (Internal)1 April to 14 May 2027August 2027
WAEC WASSCE (school candidates)11 May to 18 June 2027August 2027
NABTEB1 June to 5 July 2027August 2027
NBAIS (Arabic and Islamic studies board)10 June to 9 July 2027August 2027

The stated goal is to have results from the main bodies out by August 2027 so that eligible candidates can start tertiary admission in September 2027. In the ministry's words, discussions focused on aligning examination schedules, minimising timetable clashes and ensuring timely results processing.

Where it came from

A meeting convened by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, brought together heads and representatives of examination bodies at the Federal Ministry of Education headquarters in Abuja. The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation published a statement on 14 October 2026. JAMB then shared the timetable on its social media pages on a Thursday, according to Nairametrics (23 October).

Nairametrics reports the dates as provisional and subject to official confirmation by the respective examination bodies. That is the key phrase. Until each body publishes its own notice, plan with care.

2026 compared with 2027

NABTEB (May/June)15 June to 13 July1 June to 5 JulyAbout two weeks earlier
ResultsWAEC 5 August; NECO 24 SeptemberTarget: August 2027 for allEarlier than NECO's 2026 release

The 2026 UTME dates were announced by JAMB, the NABTEB dates come from NABTEB's own timetable, and the others are from press reports of the bodies' announcements. The biggest change is NECO, which moves from a June and July exam to an April and May one.

What is not in the proposed calendar

Many dates that students ask about are simply absent from the proposal. As at 29 October 2026 we found no official notice for any of these:

Be wary of any site showing a full list of 2027 paper dates for these. If it does not link to an official notice, it is guessing.

A month-by-month view

This is a planning aid built from the proposed windows only. Nothing in it is confirmed for your own centre.

MonthWhat the proposal implies
November 2026 to February 2027Registration for the exams that follow will probably fall in this period (our inference; no dates announced), so watch the official sites.
March 2027UTME window, 15 to 25 March.
April 2027NECO SSCE begins on 1 April.
May 2027NECO ends 14 May. WAEC begins 11 May, so the two overlap from 11 to 14 May.
June 2027WAEC ends 18 June. NABTEB begins 1 June and NBAIS on 10 June.
July 2027NABTEB ends 5 July and NBAIS ends 9 July.
August 2027Results target for NECO, WAEC, NABTEB and NBAIS.
September 2027Tertiary admissions begin for eligible candidates.

One thing worth noticing: NECO and WAEC overlap for four days in the proposal, from 11 to 14 May. If you are registered for both, your subject timetables may need to be checked carefully. Ask your school, which handles the registration, about how clashes will be managed.

How to plan with provisional dates

  1. Count backwards from 15 March. From 29 October 2026 there are 137 days. Make that the anchor of your plan.
  2. Treat overlapping subjects as one pool. English, Mathematics and the sciences feature in several exams, so one solid revision pass helps more than one.
  3. Build in slack. If a date moves later, you gain time. If it moves earlier, you will be glad you did not leave things late.
  4. Update your plan on official notices only. When a body publishes its timetable, replace the provisional date in your notes.
  5. Keep copies. Print the official timetable and your exam slips and keep them somewhere safe.

Watch for scams around dates

Whenever calendars shift, people sell "early" papers, "runs" and fake registration links. JAMB said in 2026 that more than 120 candidates had paid a fraud network that used AI-generated images and videos of officials. Use official websites only: jamb.gov.ng, waecnigeria.org, neco.gov.ng and nabteb.gov.ng. Never pay for answers or advance information.
