If you are asking "when is the JAMB 2027 UTME?", here is the straight answer: the proposed window is 15 to 25 March 2027. The word "proposed" matters. It is not yet a final, confirmed JAMB timetable, and this page will not pretend otherwise.
The proposed 2027 UTME dates
| Item | Proposed date | Status |
|---|---|---|
| UTME exam window | 15 to 25 March 2027 | Proposed, subject to confirmation |
| UTME results | March 2027 | Proposed target |
| Registration opening and closing | Not announced | No official notice found |
| Optional mock UTME | Not announced | No official notice found |
| UTME fees for 2027 | Not announced | No official notice found |
The 15 March date falls on a Monday and 25 March on a Thursday, so the window is eleven days long.
Where the dates come from
On 14 October 2026 the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation published a statement on a meeting held at the Federal Ministry of Education headquarters in Abuja. The Minister of State for Education convened heads and representatives of examination bodies to line up their calendars. The stated aims were to minimise timetable clashes and to release results by August 2027, so that tertiary admissions can begin from September.
Nairametrics (23 October 2026) then reported that JAMB shared the proposed timetable on its social media pages on a Thursday. Nairametrics and Legit.ng describe the dates as provisional. Nairametrics reports the wording as "provisional and subject to official confirmation by the respective examination bodies".
How 2027 compares with 2026
| 2026 (actual) | 2027 (proposed) | |
|---|---|---|
| UTME exam window | 16 to 25 April 2026 | 15 to 25 March 2027 |
| Gap between the two | about one month earlier in 2027 |
The 2026 dates are confirmed and in the past. The 2027 window sits about a month earlier, which squeezes the time between school terms and the exam. If you are in SS3 now, that is the main reason to take the proposal seriously even before it is final.
What has not been announced
Several things people search for are simply not out yet. We checked the official JAMB site and the reporting on the proposal and found nothing on:
- the date registration opens or closes;
- the 2027 registration fee;
- whether there will be a mock UTME, and when;
- the daily session schedule for each subject and centre.
Be careful with websites that quote exact 2027 registration dates. Some education blogs have published projected dates with no official source behind them. A projection based on last year is not an announcement. Until JAMB publishes a notice at jamb.gov.ng, treat every specific registration date you see as a guess.
You can read our companion guides on JAMB 2027 registration and the JAMB 2027 mock exam, and see all the exams side by side in the 2027 Nigerian exam calendar.
How much time do you have?
Counting from 29 October 2026 to 15 March 2027 gives 137 days, which is just under 20 weeks. That is enough time to cover the syllabus once and do real timed practice, but only if you start now and stay steady.
A simple way to use those weeks:
- Weeks 1 to 8: cover the syllabus. Work through your four subjects topic by topic. Do not leave Use of English until the end; it is compulsory for every candidate.
- Weeks 9 to 14: practise by topic. Attempt questions in small batches, then review every mistake and note why you got it wrong.
- Weeks 15 to 19: timed full papers. Sit complete papers under CBT conditions so the on-screen format stops feeling strange.
- Final week: light revision. Revisit your error notes and rest. Do not cram new topics.
Prepare for the exam format now
The UTME is a computer-based test in which you sit four subjects: Use of English plus three subjects linked to your course. Scores are reported out of 400. Practising on a screen, against a clock, is the cheapest way to remove surprises on exam day.
Questions to settle this week
Instead of waiting for JAMB, settle the things that are already in your control:
- Do I know my four subjects? Use of English plus three that fit your course. Confirm them against the JAMB brochure before registration opens.
- Is my NIN record correct? Errors in names or dates of birth are fixed with NIMC, not with JAMB. Our guide to the JAMB NIN requirement explains why this matters.
- Where will I practise on a computer? Many candidates have only used a phone for study. The UTME is taken on a computer, so practise on a larger screen at least once a week.
- Who will help with fees? Nothing is announced for 2027, so do not pay anyone yet, but a parent or guardian can start planning.
What would change this page
We will update the dates here if JAMB or the Ministry of Education confirms, moves or cancels any part of the proposal. The "last verified" date at the top of the page tells you when we last checked. If you spot a notice on jamb.gov.ng that we have missed, treat the official site as correct and our page as out of date.
ExamPadi has 46,182 practice questions across JAMB, WAEC, NECO and NABTEB, with a timed CBT mode. Free practice is available, and there is a Pro tier if you want more. It works on Android, iOS, web and Windows, so you can practise on whatever device you have.
Stay safe while you wait
When registration opens, use only JAMB's official channels. JAMB has warned about fraud networks that use fake images and videos of its officials to collect money, according to a March 2026 Nairametrics report on the 2026 exercise. If someone offers you a "guaranteed" slot, a leaked question paper or a shortcut, walk away. There is no legitimate way to buy results or advance information.
Where to confirm the final dates
Check these two places and nothing else:
- jamb.gov.ng, JAMB's official portal.
- JAMB's verified social media accounts.
We will update this page when JAMB confirms the schedule. Until then, plan around mid-March 2027, keep your preparation steady, and be ready to adjust if the dates move.

When is the JAMB 2027 UTME?
The proposed dates are 15 to 25 March 2027. JAMB describes them as proposed and subject to confirmation, so treat them as provisional until jamb.gov.ng publishes the final schedule.
Has JAMB announced the 2027 UTME registration date?
Not as at 29 October 2026. We found no official JAMB notice on registration dates or fees for 2027. Watch jamb.gov.ng and JAMB's official social media pages.
Is the 2027 UTME earlier than the 2026 UTME?
Yes, if the proposal holds. The 2026 UTME ran from 16 to 25 April 2026, so the proposed 2027 window starts about a month earlier.
Where will I find my own exam date, time and centre?
On the exam slip that JAMB releases to registered candidates through its official portal. The national window only tells you the range, not your own slot.
