JAMB 2027 Registration: Dates, Fees and Steps

JAMB has not yet announced 2027 UTME registration dates or fees. Here is what the 2026 exercise looked like, the steps to expect and how to stay scam-free.

ExamPadi Editorial · Updated · 7 min read

You will see many websites claiming to know exactly when JAMB 2027 registration starts and what the form will cost. As at 29 October 2026, JAMB has not published 2027 registration dates or fees. We checked jamb.gov.ng and the reporting on the proposed 2027 calendar and found no registration notice.

What we can do honestly is show you how the 2026 exercise worked, so you know what to prepare while you wait.

What is confirmed and what is not

Registration closing dateNot announced
2027 feesNot announced
UTME exam window15 to 25 March 2027 (proposed, not final)

The proposed exam window is about a month earlier than in 2026, as covered in our JAMB 2027 UTME date and timetable guide. It would be reasonable to expect registration to open earlier than in 2026 as well, but that is our inference, not an announcement. Do not plan around it as if it were fact.

What the 2026 exercise looked like

These are 2026 figures, shown only as a reference for how the process ran. They are not 2027 dates.

Item2026 (reported)
Registration window announced by JAMB26 January to 28 February 2026
Later reported registration deadline26 March 2026
Optional mock UTME28 March 2026
Main UTME16 to 25 April 2026
Direct Entry sales2 March to 25 April 2026

Reports from the time give two slightly different closing dates for registration, so the window was evidently extended. Our point is only that dates can shift once they are announced. Always follow the latest notice on the official portal.

JAMB fees: the 2026 reference

JAMB's approved 2026 fees were reported as follows.

Category2026 fee
UTME only (no mock)N7,200
UTME with mockN8,700
Direct EntryN5,700

According to the same reporting, the charges are made up of the application fee (N3,500), reading text (N1,000), CBT centre registration service charge (N700), CBT centre UTME service charge (N1,500), bank charges (N500) and, for those who take it, the mock centre charge (N1,500). JAMB said in February 2026 that its fees had stayed the same since 2019, and called claims of an increase "false, misleading and entirely unfounded".

One report also gave a different form-sale window (31 January to 8 March 2026) from the registration window above, which is a good reason to take every date and fee from JAMB's own notice when it appears. The 2027 fees may or may not match.

Steps to expect, based on 2026 guidance

JAMB's 2026 guidance, as reported, pointed to the following sequence. Check each step against the 2027 notice when it comes out.

  1. Fix your NIMC record first. JAMB uses only NIMC data and does not correct names or dates of birth itself. If your NIN record has an error, deal with NIMC before registration opens.
  2. Have your NIN and an active email address ready. A NIN was required in 2026. Our guide to the JAMB NIN requirement explains this in more detail.
  3. Buy the correct e-PIN for the category you want, through official channels only.
  4. Register at an approved location. That means a JAMB-approved CBT centre, a professional registration centre or a JAMB office. Direct Entry candidates use JAMB zonal or state offices.
  5. Choose your subjects and institutions carefully. Use of English is compulsory. Your other three subjects must match your intended course, so check the requirements before you pay.
  6. Keep your slip and confirmation. You will need them later for the exam and for admission processing.

Scams to avoid

JAMB said in 2026 that more than 120 candidates had already paid a fraud network that used AI-generated fake images and videos of senior officials. It said it would delete no fewer than 100 UTME registrations of candidates who sought score inflation through the network, as reported by Nairametrics. The lesson is simple:

  • Pay only through JAMB's official process and at approved centres.
  • Do not buy forms from social media sellers or agents who promise a "special" slot.
  • Do not pay anyone for questions, "runs" or advance information. It does not work, and it can cost you your registration.

What to do before registration opens

  • Confirm your NIN record is correct.
  • Decide your course and check its subject combination. Our guide to JAMB subject combinations will help.
  • Set aside the money for the fee, but do not pay anyone until JAMB publishes the amount.
  • Start practising. Registration is only the paperwork; your score is what matters.

What if the dates change?

Dates in the Nigerian exam system do move. In 2026, press reports gave two different closing dates for registration, and the optional mock was extended from two hours to four. Do not build your plan around one specific day. Instead, aim to register in the first half of the window, whenever it opens. That leaves time to fix a mistake, such as a wrong subject or a name error, without panic.

If you are a parent, be ready to help early. A candidate who has only a week left is more likely to rush, accept bad advice or fall for a fake registration agent.

Frequently asked questions

When does JAMB 2027 registration start?

JAMB has not announced it. We found no official notice as at 29 October 2026. Any exact date you see on a blog is a projection until jamb.gov.ng publishes it.

How much is the JAMB form for 2027?

No 2027 fee has been announced. For 2026, JAMB's approved fees were reported as N7,200 for UTME only, N8,700 for UTME with mock and N5,700 for Direct Entry.

Do I need a NIN to register for the UTME?

Yes. JAMB's 2026 guidance required a National Identification Number, and said it uses only NIMC data, so errors in your name or date of birth must be fixed with NIMC first.

Where should I register?

Only at JAMB-approved CBT centres, professional registration centres or JAMB offices. Direct Entry candidates register at JAMB zonal or state offices.
