UNILORIN Post-UTME: Requirements, Format and Practice
UNILORIN post-UTME explained: August 2026 test dates, the reported 50/30/20 aggregate weights, portal, exemptions, what is unpublished, and a practice plan.

The University of Ilorin is unusually open about how it weighs your scores, at least in press coverage of its notices. That makes planning easier, but it also means you should confirm the weights each year. This guide separates what UNILORIN's own page says from what the press reported.
What the screening is
UNILORIN calls it the Post-UTME (Pre-Admission Screening) for the 2026/2027 session. The university's dates page lists screening tests, and Legit.ng reported that registration and screening were online. Neither source describes the test structure, subjects or duration, so we cannot say how many questions to expect. Candidates were told to print an examination slip, which implies you are assigned a slot.
Who could register in 2026
The UNILORIN dates page that we could read does not list eligibility criteria. The Legit.ng report did not state a minimum UTME score either. What was reported:
- Both UTME and Direct Entry applicants registered.
- Candidates with certain listed disabilities were exempt from the screening test (reported).
- Payment was by Remita card payment (reported).
Without an official line on the UTME threshold, rely on the cut-off for your course in UNILORIN's admission guidance and on JAMB CAPS.
How to apply
Use portal.unilorin.edu.ng, where the report says you click "Post-UTME Registration" and verify your details with your JAMB number, phone and email. UNILORIN advises against using any other link. Contact details published on the dates page include [email protected].
The 2026 timeline
| Stage | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration opens (reported) | 22 June 2026 |
| Registration closes (UNILORIN page) | 9 August 2026 |
| Examination slip printing opens | 10 August 2026 |
| Screening tests | 13 to 15 August 2026 |
The original deadline reported by Legit.ng was 5 July, and the later UNILORIN page moved it to 9 August, so deadlines shifted. No 2027 dates are announced; our post-UTME 2027 dates page tracks them.
The aggregate, as reported
Legit.ng reported the admission aggregate as:
| Component | Weight (reported) |
|---|---|
| UTME or A'level score | 50% |
| Post-UTME screening score | 30% |
| Five relevant O'level grades | 20% |
If that is correct for your session, the maths is simple. A student with 300 in the UTME, 70 out of 100 in the screening and 16 out of 20 for O'level points would compute 300 ÷ 400 × 50 = 37.5, 70 ÷ 100 × 30 = 21 and 16 ÷ 20 × 20 = 16, giving 74.5. The O'level points table is not given in our sources, so the 16 is invented for this example. Our aggregate calculator guide shows the method for other schools.
What is not published
We could not find an official UNILORIN statement of test subjects, question count or the O'level points table. Do not trust a list of "UNILORIN post-UTME subjects" unless it cites UNILORIN.
A practice plan for UNILORIN
- Work backwards from the weights. The screening is 30% of the aggregate, so each 10 marks out of 100 is worth 3 aggregate points. Use that to set a realistic target.
- Protect your O'level 20%. Make sure your five best relevant grades are correctly uploaded.
- Core drills. English Language and Mathematics daily, then your course subjects, using English practice and Mathematics practice.
- Timed mocks. In the last three weeks use blocks with a visible clock; see CBT exam tips.
Original example: Solve 2(x − 3) = 14. x − 3 = 7, so x = 10. This is ours, not from UNILORIN.
Compare the way OAU and LASU handle screening, and read how to prepare for post-UTME. No score is guaranteed.
Checklist before you pay anything
- Use portal.unilorin.edu.ng only; the university advises against other links.
- Print your examination slip as soon as printing opens; a UNILORIN official urged candidates to do so promptly.
- If you have a listed disability, read the exemption wording in the notice before assuming it applies.
- Confirm the weights with UNILORIN; they are press-reported.
A six-week schedule
| Week | Focus | Target |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Diagnostic: a 30-question timed set in English Language and Mathematics | Note your time per question and your score |
| 2 | Fix the weakest topics from the diagnostic | One topic a day, 20 questions each |
| 3 | Course subjects | Two timed sets per subject |
| 4 | Mixed blocks | 40 questions in about 40 minutes |
| 5 | Full rehearsal under test rules | No phone, no calculator unless the notice allows it |
| 6 | Light review and logistics | Slip, ID, route, sleep |
Because the screening carries a reported 30% weight, an extra mark here is worth more than many candidates expect. Adjust the weeks if your window is shorter, and cut the number of subjects rather than the number of timed sets.
Two more practice questions
Both are original, written for this guide, and not taken from any UNILORIN paper.
- Make a the subject of the formula P = 2(a + b). Working: Divide by 2 to get P/2 = a + b, so a = P/2 − b.
- If demand for a good rises while supply stays the same, what usually happens to its price? Working: The price tends to rise.
After each set, write down why you missed a question: a content gap, a careless slip or a time problem. Each needs a different fix.
