LASU admission screening explained: the 195 UTME rule, first choice, JUPEB and Direct Entry routes, online process, June 2026 dates and a practice plan.

Lagos State University describes its process as an online admission screening. The words matter: when you search for "LASU post-UTME", the page you need is the screening portal, and the process there differs from a classic exam day. Here is what the portal and press said for 2026/2027.
What the screening is
LASU's portal describes a step-by-step online procedure. You log in with your JAMB number and surname, pay through a link on the portal, return and click Start Screening, enter your transaction ID, and submit your personal, O-Level and JAMB details. Results are viewed by logging in after processing. The portal does not describe a written or computer-based test, and it gives no subjects or question count. So it reads as an online document-and-data screening. Confirm on the portal whether any test applies to your route.
Who was eligible in 2026
From the LASU portal:
- UTME candidates: a minimum score of 195 in the 2026 UTME, with LASU as first choice.
- Direct Entry candidates: a valid JAMB Direct Entry registration with LASU as first choice and a relevant post-secondary qualification, such as OND, NCE, HND or A-Level or equivalent. Hard copies of credentials go to the Admissions Office.
- JUPEB candidates: those who took part in the 2025/2026 LASU JUPEB programme, with LASU as first choice and a valid result slip.
- O-Level results uploaded at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre, and LASU as first choice on JAMB CAPS.
Legit.ng reported an age rule of at least 16 by 1 October 2026, and said that the screening covers regular students seeking admission into 100 level by UTME and 200 level by Direct Entry.
How to apply
Go through services.lidc.lasu.edu.ng/admissionscreening or through lasu.edu.ng under Student, then New Applicants, then UTME/DE Screening, as press describes. The portal lists a screening support email address and a helpline for complaints. Fees are paid through the payment link on the portal; we have not listed amounts because the portal pages we read do not state them. Check yours before paying.
The 2026 timeline
| Item | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration and payment window | Wednesday 3 June to Tuesday 23 June 2026 (Legit.ng) |
| Later reopening | A blog reports the portal reopened for candidates who missed the first window; the date was not confirmed to us |
No 2027 dates are announced; see post-UTME 2027 dates.
What is not published
The portal gives no aggregate formula, test subjects or screening date. Our aggregate calculator guide is general, not LASU's.
A practice plan for LASU
- Get to 195 first. The UTME threshold is the real gate, so check your score and your course's requirements before paying anyone.
- Sort the O-Level upload. Visit an accredited CBT centre once your results are out, and confirm that LASU is first choice on CAPS.
- Keep your skills warm. LASU's screening may not test you, but your first-year courses will. Use English practice and Mathematics practice a few times a week.
- Prepare an alternative. Read about test-based routes such as OOU and UNILAG, in case your second choice requires one.
Original example: A shopkeeper marks a ₦5,000 item up by 20% and then gives a 10% discount on the marked price. What is the selling price? Marked price is ₦6,000, the discount is ₦600, so the price is ₦5,400. This question is ours, not from LASU.

Checklist before you pay anything
- Confirm LASU is your first choice on JAMB CAPS before you start.
- Upload O-Level results at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre.
- Have your transaction ID ready for the Start Screening step.
- Direct Entry candidates should plan to submit hard copies of credentials to the Admissions Office.
A six-week schedule
| Week | Focus | Target |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Document audit | Every name, number and upload matches your JAMB profile |
| 2 | Score and cut-off check | Compare your UTME score with your programme's published figure |
| 3 | Core skills | Three 25-question sets in English Language and Mathematics |
| 4 | Course subjects | Two sets per subject, reviewed the next day |
| 5 | Mixed timed set | One 40-question set in case a test is added |
| 6 | Buffer for portal problems | Submit early, save every receipt |
The LASU process runs inside the portal, so a stable data connection matters more than a calculator. Adjust the weeks if your window is shorter, and cut the number of subjects rather than the number of timed sets.
Two more practice questions
Both are original, written for this guide, and not taken from any LASU paper.
- Five workers finish a job in 12 days. How many days would 10 workers need at the same rate? Working: The work is 60 worker-days, so 10 workers need 6 days.
- What is the loss of water vapour from plant leaves called? Working: Transpiration.
After each set, write down why you missed a question: a content gap, a careless slip or a time problem. Each needs a different fix.
