OOU Post-UTME: Requirements, Format and Practice

OOU post-UTME explained from the university's own pages: 160 UTME baseline, CBT at the ICT Centre, portal steps, 2026 date changes and a practice plan for 2027.

Olabisi Onabanjo University explains its post-UTME on its own admission pages more fully than many schools do, but its 2026/2027 dates changed, and the text of the "important notice" is mostly an image. This guide separates what OOU's pages say from what blogs reported about the dates.

What the screening is

OOU's undergraduate page says the post-UTME is conducted via a computer-based test (CBT) at the University ICT Centre on the Main Campus. Its post-UTME page adds that the screening confirms your identity, reviews your O-Level results and assesses how well you fit your chosen programme. Neither page lists test subjects, the number of questions or the duration, so we do not.

Who was eligible in 2026

From OOU's pages:

  • OOU must be your first choice on JAMB.
  • A UTME score of 160 is "the minimum you'll need to qualify", though some programmes may require more.
  • O-Level results must be uploaded to JAMB CAPS and meet the minimum subject requirements for your course.
  • Direct Entry candidates also sit the screening, according to a reply by the university on its notice page.

The pages we read do not state an age rule. Look for it in the full notice.

How to apply

Register at OOU's Post-UTME Admissions Portal, putme.oouagoiwoye.edu.ng/apply.php, using your JAMB registration number. The page describes completing the form, uploading documents including your O-Level results, submitting, and printing your screening slip. The contact addresses published on the page are [email protected] and [email protected], with phone numbers shown on the site. We found no verifiable fee figure or print deadline for the screening pass, so read both on the portal.

The 2026 dates, and why they are confusing

SourceWhat it says
OOU "important notice" page (posted 29 July 2026)The notice body is an image; a university reply there, dated 30 August 2026, gives 1 to 4 September 2026 for the exercise
Blog report (AbsTechConnect)Rescheduled to 24 to 28 August 2026 (article dated 8 August 2026)

Because these disagree, the only reliable way to know your date is the screening slip from the portal. We cannot tell which of the two lists was final, so treat both as unconfirmed and read the notice image directly. No 2027 dates are announced; see post-UTME 2027 dates.

What is not published

OOU's pages give no aggregate formula or test subjects. Our aggregate calculator guide shows how to use a formula you can verify.

A practice plan for OOU

A CBT at an ICT centre rewards screen fluency.

  1. Get used to the screen. Do at least three timed on-screen sets a week in the final month. Our CBT exam tips cover navigation and flagging.
  2. Hit the basics. English Language and Mathematics daily, with your course subjects after. Use English practice and Mathematics practice.
  3. Review by topic. Keep a list of missed questions and revisit the topic, as described in how to use past questions.
  4. Slip and ID. Print your screening slip early, and check the photo and details.

Original example: In a class of 40, 24 students offer Physics and 18 offer Chemistry, with 6 offering both. How many offer neither? Those offering at least one are 24 + 18 − 6 = 36, so 40 − 36 = 4. This question is ours, not from OOU.

Compare LASU and UNILAG for other Lagos-region routes, and read how to prepare for post-UTME. Nobody can guarantee a result.

Checklist before you pay anything

  • Print your screening pass early and check the photo and details.
  • Remember the CBT is described as taking place at the University ICT Centre on the main campus.
  • Read the 'important notice' image directly, because blog dates conflict with it.
  • Direct Entry candidates also sit the screening.

A six-week schedule

WeekFocusTarget
1Diagnostic: a 30-question timed set in English Language and MathematicsNote your time per question and your score
2Fix the weakest topics from the diagnosticOne topic a day, 20 questions each
3Course subjectsTwo timed sets per subject
4Mixed blocks40 questions in about 40 minutes
5Full rehearsal under test rulesNo phone, no calculator unless the notice allows it
6Light review and logisticsSlip, ID, route, sleep

OOU's dates conflicted across sources, so your personal slip is the only date that counts. Adjust the weeks if your window is shorter, and cut the number of subjects rather than the number of timed sets.

Two more practice questions

Both are original, written for this guide, and not taken from any OOU paper.

  1. A number is increased by 25% to give 150. What was the number? Working: The original is 100%, and 125% = 150, so the original is 150 ÷ 1.25 = 120.
  2. Which is a renewable energy source: coal, solar or diesel? Working: Solar.

After each set, write down why you missed a question: a content gap, a careless slip or a time problem. Each needs a different fix.
