LAUTECH post-UTME explained from the university's own notice: 170 UTME minimum, 80/20 admission weighting, fees, portal, age rule and Direct Entry interviews.

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, is one of the clearer cases because the university's own notice, a PDF on its admission portal, states the minimum score, the fee structure and the weighting used for admission. This guide is built from that notice, which covers the 2025/2026 session, plus a note on later reports.
What the screening is
LAUTECH's notice is titled a notice on post-UTME screening and Direct Entry interview. For UTME candidates it describes online registration and uploads, not a sit-down paper, and it says admission is based on 80% UTME score and 20% O'level grades. That weighting means there is no separate screening score in the formula, although the notice does not say in so many words that there is no test. Direct Entry candidates were different: they faced oral and written interviews on campus.
Who can apply
From LAUTECH's 2025/2026 notice:
- LAUTECH had to be your first choice, and UTME candidates needed at least 170 in the 2025/2026 UTME.
- O'level results had to be uploaded to JAMB CAPS before 20 August 2025.
- You had to be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2025.
- Five credit passes in relevant O'level subjects at not more than two sittings; Medicine, Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science needed five relevant credits at one sitting.
- Direct Entry: a degree with at least Second Class Lower, ND at Upper Credit, NCE at Merit, HND at Lower Credit or JUPEB, with five O'level credits.
The notice also warned that inconsistencies in names, state of origin or age on your documents may lead to disqualification.
How to apply
Go to apply.lautech.edu.ng. The notice set a non-refundable registration fee of 2,000 naira and a portal access fee of 3,000 naira, paid with an Interswitch-enabled debit card. You complete and submit the online form and upload a clear passport photograph with a white background, in JPEG format and not above 20KB. Direct Entry candidates also had to obtain a DE form from JAMB and send transcripts to the Registrar, Ogbomoso, at least a week before the interview.
Timeline
From the notice and later reports:
| Stage | Date |
|---|---|
| Portal open for registration (LAUTECH notice) | 25 July to 20 August 2025 |
| O'level upload to JAMB CAPS deadline (LAUTECH notice) | 20 August 2025 |
| Direct Entry oral and written interviews (LAUTECH notice) | 25 and 26 August 2025 |
| Registration reported extended, with interviews moved (reported) | Extended into September 2025 |
Education sites reported an extension and new interview dates, but we relied on the notice for dates. The admission portal still showed 2025/2026 applications when we checked, so we have no official 2026/2027 notice to quote. Check the 2027 dates page later.
How your score is worked out
LAUTECH's notice states the method plainly: 80% UTME score and 20% O'level grades. Because the notice gives no O'level points table, you cannot compute an exact figure, but you can see how UTME dominates. Scaling your UTME out of 400 to 80 marks, a 280 scores 56 of the 80 available. Our aggregate calculator guide walks through the arithmetic.
What is not published
Not in the notice we read: the O'level points table, a 2026/2027 official notice, any test subjects for UTME candidates, and the exact process for admissions not accepted within three weeks on CAPS (the notice says such offers are forfeited or withdrawn). Do not rely on forum lists of subjects.
Before you pay or submit
Scam sites copy university notices every admission season, so check these before you part with money for LAUTECH:
- Type the portal address yourself or follow the link from the university's own website; do not use links sent on WhatsApp or social media.
- Confirm the fee on the portal screen and keep the payment receipt and your application slip.
- Compare the name on your JAMB profile, O'level result and birth documents letter by letter, because mismatches cause avoidable problems.
- Never pay anyone who promises LAUTECH admission, leaked questions or "expo"; they are scams and malpractice can cost you your place.
A practice plan for LAUTECH
- Make the UTME score count. With 80% of LAUTECH's weighting on the UTME, nearly everything depends on that exam. Your UTME score is the part of the process you can still influence, so spend most of your time on the four UTME subjects. Our guide to scoring 300 in JAMB is a good place to start.
- Keep your O'level record clean. Check that your name, date of birth and subjects match across your JAMB profile, result slips and birth documents. LAUTECH warned that offers not accepted on JAMB CAPS within three weeks may be withdrawn, so plan to accept promptly.
- Sharpen English and Mathematics every day. Short sessions on English Language practice and Mathematics practice help with the UTME and with any aptitude test a university adds later.
- Run timed blocks. In the last month before the UTME, practise in 40-question timed sets with a visible clock; CBT exam tips explains how to pace yourself.
- Set a weekly rhythm. Plan five study days and one review day, and log your scores each week so you can see which topics are slipping before the next UTME and screening cycle.
Original example: If 3x + 5 = 20, what is x? 3x = 15, so x = 5. This is our own question, not from LAUTECH.
