KASU Post-UTME: Requirements, Format and Practice
KASU post-UTME explained: the online SAFapply stage, the reported 2026/2027 grace period, the in-person document check for admitted students and gaps.
ExamPadi Editorial · Updated · 6 min read
Kaduna State University has a two-stage pattern that confuses many applicants: an online post-UTME application first, then a physical screening and document check for candidates who actually receive provisional admission. Mixing the two up is a common mistake, so this guide separates them.
What the screening is
The Post-UTME stage is online. MySchoolNews reported that candidates complete an online pre-screening step on the SAFapply portal (applicant.satapply.com/kasu), uploading their JAMB admission letter and printing the Post-UTME registration acknowledgement slip. A second stage then applies to admitted candidates: for 2025/2026, KASU's Registrar's office called all candidates with provisional admission to a mandatory physical screening and document verification. We could not reach a KASU admissions notice for 2026/2027, so check the portal for whether the second stage is physical or online this year.
Who can apply
What the sources say about who applies:
- Candidates who chose KASU as their first-choice institution in the 2026 UTME (reported).
- Direct Entry candidates with the A'level qualifications required for their programme (reported).
- We found conflicting UTME cut-off figures between education sites for 2026/2027 and no official figure, so we do not quote one.
- Admitted candidates, in the 2025/2026 cycle, had to bring original documents plus two photocopies each.
The documents KASU required for the 2025/2026 physical screening, as reported by MySchoolNews, were the JAMB admission letter, original JAMB result slip, O'level certificates, a valid scratch card, two online-generated O'level result copies, a birth certificate or sworn age declaration, the primary school leaving certificate, a certificate of local government of origin, the registration slip and a NIN slip.
How to apply
Start from kasu.edu.ng (the Admissions page links the university's forms site) and use the Post-UTME application on the SAFapply portal. The MySchoolNews report of the 2025/2026 process says to log in, upload your JAMB admission letter and print the acknowledgement slip. Fees were not stated in the reports we read; we found no fee figure we could verify, so read it on the portal.

How your score is worked out
We found no official KASU aggregate formula or weighting. The document-based stage for admitted candidates is verification, not scoring. Our aggregate calculator guide covers the general approach only.
What is not published
Not published in sources we could verify: the UTME cut-off for 2026/2027, the fee, whether any test is set at the online stage, and the aggregate formula. A document list may change each year, so use the current notice, not a screenshot from last year.
Before you pay or submit
Scam sites copy university notices every admission season, so check these before you part with money for KASU:
- Type the portal address yourself or follow the link from the university's own website; do not use links sent on WhatsApp or social media.
- Confirm the fee on the portal screen and keep the payment receipt and your application slip.
- Compare the name on your JAMB profile, O'level result and birth documents letter by letter, because mismatches cause avoidable problems.
- Never pay anyone who promises KASU admission, leaked questions or "expo"; they are scams and malpractice can cost you your place.
A practice plan for KASU
- Make the UTME score count. KASU's online stage is about eligibility and uploads, and its in-person stage after admission is about documents. Your UTME score is the part of the process you can still influence, so spend most of your time on the four UTME subjects. Our guide to scoring 300 in JAMB is a good place to start.
- Keep your O'level record clean. Check that your name, date of birth and subjects match across your JAMB profile, result slips and birth documents. Collect originals and photocopies of your documents early, including birth certificate, primary school leaving certificate, indigene certificate and NIN slip, since KASU asked for these at the 2025/2026 physical screening.
- Sharpen English and Mathematics every day. Short sessions on English Language practice and Mathematics practice help with the UTME and with any aptitude test a university adds later.
- Run timed blocks. In the last month before the UTME, practise in 40-question timed sets with a visible clock; CBT exam tips explains how to pace yourself.
- Set a weekly rhythm. Plan five study days and one review day, and log your scores each week so you can see which topics are slipping before the next UTME and screening cycle.
Original example: A class has 30 students and 40% are girls. How many boys are there? Girls: 0.4 times 30 is 12, so boys are 30 minus 12, which is 18. This is our own question, not from KASU.
See NSUK and FULafia for other northern examples, and read how to prepare for post-UTME.
