Enugu State University of Science and Technology has published its 2026/2027 screening notice on its own website, and it is clear on the point most students ask about first: the screening is online and there is no physical screening or aptitude test. Below is what the notice says, with its UTME minimums by course.
What the screening is
The ESUT notice, dated 4 July 2026 on the university website, states that candidates will be screened online and are not required to appear for a physical screening or an aptitude test. Admission status is communicated through the ESUT portal and JAMB CAPS. Direct Entry candidates are also screened online. Because no test is involved, your UTME score and O'level results carry the weight.
Who can apply
UTME minimums listed in the notice for 2026/2027:
- 240: Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Sciences, Law.
- 220: Pharmacy, Doctor of Optometry, Doctor of Physiotherapy.
- 200: Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Radiography, Computer Science, Intelligence and Security Studies, Cyber Security, Data Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence.
- 180: Anatomy, Public Health, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Accountancy, Business Administration, Mass Communication, Political Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, International Relations and Diplomacy, Architecture.
- 160: Agriculture, Education, Environmental Sciences and other courses.
The notice covers candidates who chose ESUT in the 2026 UTME and those who now wish to apply; the latter must first apply to JAMB for a change of institution. Candidates awaiting WAEC, NECO or NABTEB results from May or June 2026 could apply, but results released after 30 September 2026 would not be accepted. Names on O'level certificates and UTME results must match.
How to apply
Visit portal.esut.edu.ng and click 2026/2027. Under Regular Students, choose 2026/2027 Admission Screening Registration, enter your JAMB registration number, fill the required details to generate an invoice, then pay 2,000 naira with Interswitch, either at a bank with the invoice or online by debit card. Return to the application page, complete the form, confirm your entries, submit and print the acknowledgement slip. All candidates must upload SSCE O'level results on JAMB CAPS. Direct Entry candidates must ask their former institutions to verify and clear them on JAMB e-facilities.

How your score is worked out
The notice does not publish a formula that combines UTME and O'level scores, and no aggregate weights were stated. We found no separate ESUT statement of one. If you want to practise the general method, use our aggregate calculator guide, but treat any ESUT-specific split you see online as unverified.
What is not published
Not in the notice: the aggregate formula, the O'level points table, how many candidates are admitted per course, and any date for releasing results. The notice lists available courses but gives no admission quotas.
Before you pay or submit
Scam sites copy university notices every admission season, so check these before you part with money for ESUT:
- Type the portal address yourself or follow the link from the university's own website; do not use links sent on WhatsApp or social media.
- Confirm the fee on the portal screen and keep the payment receipt and your application slip.
- Compare the name on your JAMB profile, O'level result and birth documents letter by letter, because mismatches cause avoidable problems.
- Never pay anyone who promises ESUT admission, leaked questions or "expo"; they are scams and malpractice can cost you your place.
A practice plan for ESUT
- Make the UTME score count. ESUT's notice rules out a physical or aptitude test, so the UTME minimum for your course is the hurdle to clear. Your UTME score is the part of the process you can still influence, so spend most of your time on the four UTME subjects. Our guide to scoring 300 in JAMB is a good place to start.
- Keep your O'level record clean. Check that your name, date of birth and subjects match across your JAMB profile, result slips and birth documents. ESUT said inconsistent names can lead to disqualification, so match your O'level and UTME names exactly.
- Sharpen English and Mathematics every day. Short sessions on English Language practice and Mathematics practice help with the UTME and with any aptitude test a university adds later.
- Run timed blocks. In the last month before the UTME, practise in 40-question timed sets with a visible clock; CBT exam tips explains how to pace yourself.
- Set a weekly rhythm. Plan five study days and one review day, and log your scores each week so you can see which topics are slipping before the next UTME and screening cycle.
Original example: A rectangle is 12 cm long and 5 cm wide. What is the length of its diagonal? Using Pythagoras, the diagonal is the square root of 144 + 25, which is the square root of 169, so 13 cm. This is our own question, not from ESUT.
