EKSU Post-UTME: Requirements, Format and Practice
EKSU post-UTME explained: online screening reported with no written exam, the reported 150 UTME floor, course minimums, portal and shifting deadlines.
ExamPadi Editorial · Updated · 6 min read
Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, has treated its post-UTME as an online screening of your records rather than a sit-down exam, at least in the 2025/2026 cycle. That changes what "preparing" means. This guide sets out what EKSU's notice said, what the press reported afterwards and where the details are still unclear, so you know what to confirm on the portal.
What the screening is
For the 2025/2026 session, EKSU's notice, as reported by MySchoolNews, invited candidates to apply through the university portal, and a blog (Examkits) reported that screening was online with no written exam. We found no EKSU text saying so, and the MySchoolNews notice report does not mention an exam either way. For 2026/2027, education news sites reported that registration was open and then extended, but they disagree on dates, and we could not reach EKSU's own site to check (it was behind a browser check when we tried). Treat the "no exam" rule as last cycle's practice and confirm it each year.
Who can apply
From the 2025/2026 notice as reported by MySchoolNews:
- A UTME score of 150 and above was the general entry point.
- Higher programme minimums were listed: Medicine and Surgery 260, Law 250, Doctor of Pharmacy 240, Nursing Science 230, Medical Laboratory Science 220, Mass Communication 200, and 180 for Engineering, Computer Science and Medical Biochemistry.
- Candidates below a programme's minimum were pointed to other programmes through JAMB CAPS.
- Direct Entry applicants needed five credit passes in relevant subjects in no more than two sittings.
- JUPEB with at least 7 points was accepted; IJMB was not.
These figures are from the 2025/2026 notice. A blog reported a general minimum of 150 for 2026/2027 as well, but programme minimums for the new session were not confirmed in sources we could read.
How to apply
Go to the EKSU portal at eksuportal.eksu.edu.ng, open the Admission section and choose the online application. Payment is made through the portal's pay option; the notice we read did not state the amount, so read the fee on the portal before you pay. Upload a 1 inch by 1 inch passport photograph in JPEG format with a red background, and your O'level results from WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (at most two sittings). NECO-UTME candidates had extra steps involving result verification tokens. If you are still waiting for results, apply only after they are released, as the notice said.
Timeline
Dates reported for the last cycles:
| Stage | Date |
|---|---|
| Screening opened, 2025/2026 (Examkits, a blog) | 13 August 2025 |
| Direct Entry transcripts due, 2025/2026 (EKSU notice, reported) | 19 September 2025 |
| Registration deadline extended, 2025/2026 (MySchoolNews) | 31 October 2025 |
| Registration deadline, 2026/2027 (AbsTechConnect blog, 2 September 2026) | 30 September 2026 |
Deadlines moved in both sessions, and the sources we read are blogs and press reports, not EKSU notices. No 2027 dates exist yet; our post-UTME 2027 dates page tracks announcements.
How your score is worked out
EKSU's notice did not publish an aggregate formula or the weights between UTME and O'level grades, and we found no official statement of one. If you want to estimate a combined score for any school, our aggregate calculator guide explains the usual method, but do not assume it matches EKSU's.
What is not published
Not published in sources we could verify: the fee amount in the 2025/2026 notice, the aggregate formula, any test subjects or format for the 2026/2027 screening, and the programme minimums for 2026/2027. If you see a list of "EKSU post-UTME subjects" that does not cite EKSU, ignore it.
Before you pay or submit
Scam sites copy university notices every admission season, so check these before you part with money for EKSU:
- Type the portal address yourself or follow the link from the university's own website; do not use links sent on WhatsApp or social media.
- Confirm the fee on the portal screen and keep the payment receipt and your application slip.
- Compare the name on your JAMB profile, O'level result and birth documents letter by letter, because mismatches cause avoidable problems.
- Never pay anyone who promises EKSU admission, leaked questions or "expo"; they are scams and malpractice can cost you your place.
A practice plan for EKSU
- Make the UTME score count. Last cycle's screening was reported as online with no written exam (a blog report, unconfirmed), so a strong UTME is the lever you control. Your UTME score is the part of the process you can still influence, so spend most of your time on the four UTME subjects. Our guide to scoring 300 in JAMB is a good place to start.
- Keep your O'level record clean. Check that your name, date of birth and subjects match across your JAMB profile, result slips and birth documents. EKSU warned that failing to take part in screening means no admission consideration, so finish every step on the portal.
- Sharpen English and Mathematics every day. Short sessions on English Language practice and Mathematics practice help with the UTME and with any aptitude test a university adds later.
- Run timed blocks. In the last month before the UTME, practise in 40-question timed sets with a visible clock; CBT exam tips explains how to pace yourself.
- Set a weekly rhythm. Plan five study days and one review day, and log your scores each week so you can see which topics are slipping before the next UTME and screening cycle.
Original example: A shop sells a bag of rice at 8,000 naira after a 20% discount. What was the price before the discount? Let the original be x. Then 0.8x = 8,000, so x = 10,000 naira. This is our own question, not from EKSU.
