AAUA Post-UTME: Requirements, Format and Practice
AAUA post-UTME explained: online screening, the reported 160 UTME mark, fee reports, the putme portal, the 2026 opening date and what AAUA has not published.

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, runs its screening through a dedicated post-UTME portal, and the university's homepage links straight to it. The details you most want, such as the screening format and any weighting of scores, are not clearly stated in the notices we could read, so this guide is candid about the gaps.
What the screening is
AAUA describes the exercise as online, and a SchoolNGR report of the 2026/2027 notice said participation in the online screening exercise is compulsory for admission consideration. Neither that report nor the 2025/2026 coverage describes a test with questions, subjects or a duration, so we cannot tell you whether candidates sit a CBT paper or are assessed on records. We could not load the AAUA portal itself (it showed a browser check), so the best proof available is the official link on aaua.edu.ng and the press reports below.
Who can apply
Reported eligibility:
- For 2025/2026, candidates who made AAUA their first choice and scored 160 and above were eligible (education news reports).
- For 2026/2027, SchoolNGR reported a general cut-off of 160, and allowed candidates scoring 160 or more who were willing to change to AAUA.
- Applicants had to be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026 (SchoolNGR).
- Direct Entry candidates who chose AAUA first were also eligible; O'level results had to be uploaded to both the AAUA portal and JAMB CAPS, with credits in English Language and Mathematics for DE (SchoolNGR).
- One aggregator listed 170 for Cyber Security; we could not confirm that against an official notice.
How to apply
Use the AAUA post-UTME portal at putme.aaua.edu.ng, which the university homepage links as "Apply Now". You need your JAMB registration number and a valid email address to create an account, then a bio-data form, uploads, payment and a printed registration slip (SchoolNGR). Fee reports differ: SchoolNGR gave 5,000 naira for 2026/2027, and 2025/2026 coverage split it as 2,000 naira screening plus 3,000 naira portal charge. Read the fee on the portal itself.
Timeline
What the sources give:
| Stage | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration opened, 2025/2026 (reported) | 23 July 2025 |
| Registration opened, 2026/2027 (SchoolNGR) | 26 May 2026 |
| Closing date, 2026/2027 | Not stated in the report we read |
| Age requirement date | 30 September 2026 |
The SchoolNGR page was last updated on 30 May 2026 and described registration as ongoing, so it may be out of date. For later cycles see our post-UTME 2027 dates page.
How your score is worked out
No aggregate formula was stated in the notices or reports we read. We found no AAUA statement of how UTME, screening and O'level grades are combined, so do not use a calculator weighting for AAUA unless the university publishes one. Our aggregate calculator guide shows the general method.
What is not published
Not published in sources we could verify: the test format (if any), subjects, duration, the aggregate formula, the closing date for 2026/2027 and screening dates. The fee also varies by report.
Before you pay or submit
Scam sites copy university notices every admission season, so check these before you part with money for AAUA:
- Type the portal address yourself or follow the link from the university's own website; do not use links sent on WhatsApp or social media.
- Confirm the fee on the portal screen and keep the payment receipt and your application slip.
- Compare the name on your JAMB profile, O'level result and birth documents letter by letter, because mismatches cause avoidable problems.
- Never pay anyone who promises AAUA admission, leaked questions or "expo"; they are scams and malpractice can cost you your place.
A practice plan for AAUA
- Make the UTME score count. AAUA's published rules centre on UTME score and O'level uploads. Your UTME score is the part of the process you can still influence, so spend most of your time on the four UTME subjects. Our guide to scoring 300 in JAMB is a good place to start.
- Keep your O'level record clean. Check that your name, date of birth and subjects match across your JAMB profile, result slips and birth documents. Upload your O'level results to both JAMB CAPS and the AAUA portal, since the SchoolNGR report said both were required for Direct Entry candidates.
- Sharpen English and Mathematics every day. Short sessions on English Language practice and Mathematics practice help with the UTME and with any aptitude test a university adds later.
- Run timed blocks. In the last month before the UTME, practise in 40-question timed sets with a visible clock; CBT exam tips explains how to pace yourself.
- Set a weekly rhythm. Plan five study days and one review day, and log your scores each week so you can see which topics are slipping before the next UTME and screening cycle.
Original example: Choose the correct word: The committee (was/were) divided on the proposal. A committee acting as one body takes "was" in formal British English, so "was divided" is the safer choice. This is our own question, not from AAUA.
