DELSU Post-UTME: Requirements, Format and Practice

DELSU post-UTME explained: the reported 150 UTME floor, 70/30 UTME and O'level weighting, 2,000 naira fee, student portal and 2026 deadlines.

Delta State University, Abraka, publishes an unusually direct formula in its 2026/2027 bulletin: 70% from the UTME and 30% from five O'level subjects. What it has said less about is the screening itself. This guide gathers the bulletin as reported, the portal and the open questions.

What the screening is

According to Oasis Magazine's report of the university bulletin, DELSU's 2026/2027 admission process rests on a 70:30 grading system, with 70% from the UTME score and 30% from performance in five relevant O'level subjects. The bulletin said candidates would receive further information about the screening exercise through the phone numbers and email addresses given at registration. That wording does not tell us whether there is a test, a venue or only an online records check, so it is a gap to fill from the portal.

Who can apply

As reported from the 2026/2027 bulletin:

  • DELSU as first choice in the 2026 UTME with a score of 150 and above.
  • Candidates who did not choose DELSU first but met the cut-off could apply after changing institution on the JAMB portal before the application closed.
  • Direct Entry applicants needed qualifications such as NCE, OND, HND, a first degree or A'level in relevant disciplines.
  • All candidates had to upload O'level results to the JAMB portal, with a warning that failure would disqualify them; candidates awaiting results were told to upload them immediately after release.

Department-specific cut-offs are circulated separately by news sites; we did not find an official list we could read, so we do not reproduce any.

How to apply

Apply through the Admission Portal linked from the DELSU homepage. The homepage currently lists two addresses (portal.delsuces.online and studentportal.delsu.edu.ng) and does not say which is current, so start from delsu.edu.ng and confirm with the university. The bulletin reported a non-refundable 2,000 naira fee and an online form covering O'level details, guardian information and a passport photograph. Education sites describe the path as Admission Application, then the relevant undergraduate option. The bulletin said it superseded an earlier one dated 29 May 2026.

The July extension came from a secondary source we could not tie to a DELSU notice. We did not find published 2026/2027 screening dates. Follow the 2027 dates page for the next cycle.

How your score is worked out

DELSU's stated rule is 70% UTME and 30% O'level. Because the O'level part uses five relevant subjects, the grade-to-point table matters, and we did not find it. As a rough illustration only: if a 300 UTME is scaled to 70 marks, it gives 52.5, and the O'level portion is worth up to 30 more. Our aggregate calculator guide shows how to build your own estimate, but DELSU's table must come from DELSU.

What is not published

Not published in sources we could verify: the O'level points table, the screening format and dates for 2026/2027, whether a test or interview applies to UTME candidates, and an official departmental cut-off list. Do not trust unsourced subject lists.

Before you pay or submit

Scam sites copy university notices every admission season, so check these before you part with money for DELSU:

  • Type the portal address yourself or follow the link from the university's own website; do not use links sent on WhatsApp or social media.
  • Confirm the fee on the portal screen and keep the payment receipt and your application slip.
  • Compare the name on your JAMB profile, O'level result and birth documents letter by letter, because mismatches cause avoidable problems.
  • Never pay anyone who promises DELSU admission, leaked questions or "expo"; they are scams and malpractice can cost you your place.

A practice plan for DELSU

  1. Make the UTME score count. With 70% of DELSU's stated weighting on the UTME, the UTME is where you gain the most. Your UTME score is the part of the process you can still influence, so spend most of your time on the four UTME subjects. Our guide to scoring 300 in JAMB is a good place to start.
  2. Keep your O'level record clean. Check that your name, date of birth and subjects match across your JAMB profile, result slips and birth documents. Keep your phone number and email correct on the DELSU portal, because the bulletin said screening information would be sent to them.
  3. Sharpen English and Mathematics every day. Short sessions on English Language practice and Mathematics practice help with the UTME and with any aptitude test a university adds later.
  4. Run timed blocks. In the last month before the UTME, practise in 40-question timed sets with a visible clock; CBT exam tips explains how to pace yourself.
  5. Set a weekly rhythm. Plan five study days and one review day, and log your scores each week so you can see which topics are slipping before the next UTME and screening cycle.

Original example: Simplify (2/3) + (1/6). Write 2/3 as 4/6, so 4/6 + 1/6 = 5/6. This is our own question, not from DELSU.

Neighbouring options include UNIUYO and UNIBEN; the main post-UTME guide covers the general routine.
