The University of Nigeria, Nsukka publishes a short, document-heavy notice for its screening exercise. That helps you prepare your paperwork, but the notice leaves out the test details many candidates ask about. This page reports what UNN said for 2026/2027 and says clearly what it did not.
What the screening is
UNN calls it the Screening Exercise for Admission. The notice describes online registration, entry of your O'level subjects and grades, document uploads and printing an acknowledgement slip. It does not say whether UNN also runs a written or computer-based test, and it gives no test dates or subjects. Some third-party websites describe an online aptitude test for UNN, but UNN's notice itself does not, so we cannot confirm one. The honest position is: format not published in the notice; confirm on the portal and in any message sent to you.
Who was eligible in 2026
From the notice:
- A UTME score of 160 or above, with UNN as your first choice in the 2026 UTME.
- At least 16 years old by 30 September 2026.
- Names on your WAEC or NECO results must match your JAMB record.
- Candidates still waiting for the November/December 2026 GCE or NECO were not eligible for this exercise.
- Direct Entry candidates with UNN as first choice also register; A'level results must be verified and shown in JAMB.
- O'level results needed to be uploaded to JAMB CAPS and the UNN portal by the deadline.
How to apply
Go to unn.edu.ng, click the UNN portal link, then Prospective Students, then the 2026/2027 screening application form. The notice's steps are: enter your JAMB number, generate an invoice, pay on Remita, return to the portal, complete your personal details, enter O'level subjects, grades, centre and examination number, then upload documents and print the acknowledgement slip. The notice lists a 2,000 naira application fee and a 3,300 naira processing fee; confirm current amounts on the portal.
Documents named in the notice: birth certificate (the date of birth cannot be changed later), local government identification, testimonial, first school leaving certificate, JAMB result slip, and O'level result or results. Each uploaded file must be 100KB or smaller, so scan and compress before registration day.
Last cycle's timeline (2026/2027)
| Stage | Date in UNN notice |
|---|---|
| Online registration opens | 15 July 2026 |
| Registration and O'level upload close | 5 August 2026 |
The notice gives no screening date after registration. No 2027 dates are announced; see our 2027 post-UTME dates page.
What is not published
The notice states no aggregate formula, no test subjects and no required O'level grades. It simply points candidates to the university website for updates. If someone shows you a UNN "formula", ask for the official source first. Our aggregate guide shows how to work with a formula once you have a reliable one.
A practice plan for UNN
Prepare in two tracks: paperwork and skills.
- Paperwork (this month). Get your birth certificate, local government identification and testimonial scanned. Check that your name is identical across documents.
- Fundamentals (weeks 1 to 3). English Language and Mathematics first, then your course subjects. Use English practice and Mathematics practice.
- Timed practice (weeks 4 to 6). Because the format is unknown, practise both short and long blocks. Review with the method in how to use past questions.
- Stay flexible. If UNN announces a test, tailor the last two weeks to its stated subjects only.
An original practice item: If a book's price rises from ₦2,000 to ₦2,300, what is the percentage increase? The increase is ₦300, and 300 ÷ 2,000 × 100 = 15%. We wrote this ourselves; it is not from any UNN paper.
For the bigger picture, read how to prepare for post-UTME. You might also compare other southern schools such as UNICAL and UNIUYO, which also have 150-point UTME thresholds in 2026. Nobody can guarantee a result, and paying for leaked questions is both risky and unfair to honest candidates.
Checklist before you pay anything
- Scan every document under 100KB before you start; the notice sets that limit for each upload.
- Check that the names on your WAEC or NECO result match your JAMB record exactly.
- Do not register if you are still waiting on the November/December 2026 GCE or NECO; the notice says such candidates are not eligible.
- Keep the acknowledgement slip after submission.
A six-week schedule
| Week | Focus | Target |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Find the official notice and note the rules | A one-page summary in your own words |
| 2 | Core skills | Three 25-question sets in English Language and Mathematics |
| 3 | Course subjects | Two sets per subject |
| 4 | Timed mixed blocks | 40 questions in about 40 minutes |
| 5 | Adapt to the announced format | Switch to test, document or interview preparation |
| 6 | Review and logistics | Slip, ID, route, sleep |
UNN's notice is about documents and uploads, so give the first week to getting paperwork right. Adjust the weeks if your window is shorter, and cut the number of subjects rather than the number of timed sets.
Two more practice questions
Both are original, written for this guide, and not taken from any UNN paper.
- A trader buys 20 oranges for ₦1,000 and sells all of them at ₦65 each. What is the profit? Working: Sales are 20 × 65 = ₦1,300, so profit is 1,300 − 1,000 = ₦300.
- In which organ of the human body is bile produced? Working: The liver; bile is stored in the gall bladder.
After each set, write down why you missed a question: a content gap, a careless slip or a time problem. Each needs a different fix.
