UNIPORT Post-UTME: Requirements, Format and Practice

UNIPORT post-UTME explained from the 2026/2027 notices: 160 UTME rule, May registration, June test days by faculty, rules, unpublished details and a prep plan.

The University of Port Harcourt ran one of the earliest 2026 post-UTME exercises, with registration in May and tests in June. Its notices are clear on dates and rules, and silent on test content. Here is what UNIPORT said, and what it left out.

What the screening is

UNIPORT held a screening test with candidates assigned to a venue, date and time shown on a Photo Card printed after registration. The notices say to bring the Photo Card and a pen, and they ban phones, tablets and similar devices. They do not say whether the test is computer-based or paper-based, how long it lasts, or what subjects it covers. The advertisement said that the schedule and details would be announced later. If you read a post that describes the UNIPORT test paper in detail, ask where UNIPORT published that detail.

Who was eligible in 2026

From the advertisement and schedule:

  • UNIPORT as first choice in the 2026 UTME, with a score of at least 160.
  • Second-choice candidates had to change UNIPORT to first choice in JAMB by 2 June 2026.
  • Aged at least 16 by 30 September 2026.
  • O'level results uploaded to JAMB CAPS; candidates without uploaded results would not be considered.
  • Names and photographs had to match across the O'level certificate, UTME result and registration documents.

UNIPORT also issued a separate advertisement for Direct Entry screening, and later notices for supplementary and mop-up admissions. Those have different dates, so use the right one for your route.

How to apply

Register online at utmedetails.uniport.edu.ng, as the schedule notice states. The advertisement describes paying a ₦2,000 registration fee on Remita, confirming payment with the access code, completing the form and printing your registration slip and Photo Card. Use your own phone number and email address. Technical support is [email protected].

Last cycle's timeline (2026/2027)

ItemDate
Registration opens15 May 2026
First planned closing date29 May 2026
Extended closing date6 June 2026
Test days8 to 13 June 2026

Test days were grouped by faculty. For example, Nursing and Agriculture sat on 8 June, Engineering, Education and Science on 11 June, and Medicine and Surgery on 13 June. No 2027 dates are announced; see post-UTME 2027 dates.

What is not published

The notices give no aggregate formula, test subjects, question count or pass mark. Candidates have to follow the notices and wait for results. The aggregate calculator guide is a way to think through a formula once UNIPORT shares one.

A practice plan for UNIPORT

UNIPORT ran early, so prepare early. If the next cycle follows a similar calendar, registration could open soon after the UTME window, though nothing for 2027 is confirmed.

  1. Sort your CAPS upload. Make sure your O'level result is correctly uploaded to JAMB CAPS when results come out.
  2. Study the faculty route. Because tests are grouped by faculty, prepare English Language, Mathematics and the subjects of your own faculty. Use English practice and Mathematics practice.
  3. Paper and screen. Since the format is unspecified, do both: some pen-and-paper blocks and some on-screen blocks. Our CBT exam tips cover the screen side.
  4. Rehearse the rules. No phones, so leave your phone alone for each 60-minute practice block.

An original example: A rectangle is 12 cm by 5 cm. What is the length of its diagonal? By Pythagoras, 12² + 5² = 169, so the diagonal is 13 cm. This question is ours, not from a UNIPORT paper.

Checklist before you pay anything

  • Make sure UNIPORT is your first choice on JAMB; second-choice candidates had to change it by a stated date in 2026.
  • Print the Photo Card, since it shows your screening date and time, and bring a pen.
  • Match your names and photographs across the O'level certificate, UTME result and registration documents.
  • Remember the ban on phones and gadgets near the venue.

A six-week schedule

WeekFocusTarget
1Diagnostic: a 30-question timed set in English Language and MathematicsNote your time per question and your score
2Fix the weakest topics from the diagnosticOne topic a day, 20 questions each
3Course subjectsTwo timed sets per subject
4Mixed blocks40 questions in about 40 minutes
5Full rehearsal under test rulesNo phone, no calculator unless the notice allows it
6Light review and logisticsSlip, ID, route, sleep

UNIPORT's test days are grouped by faculty, so check which day belongs to yours. Adjust the weeks if your window is shorter, and cut the number of subjects rather than the number of timed sets.

Two more practice questions

Both are original, written for this guide, and not taken from any UNIPORT paper.

  1. A bus travels 180 km at 60 km/h and then 120 km at 40 km/h. What is the total time? Working: The first stage takes 3 hours and the second takes 3 hours, so 6 hours.
  2. What is the chemical formula of sodium chloride? Working: NaCl.

After each set, write down why you missed a question: a content gap, a careless slip or a time problem. Each needs a different fix.
