UNIMAID Post-UTME: Requirements, Format and Practice
UNIMAID post-UTME explained: what press reported for 2026/2027, the reported 150 baseline and extension, what is unpublished, and how to prepare for 2027.
ExamPadi Editorial · Updated · 5 min read
This is a shorter and more cautious page than most in this series, because we could not read a 2026/2027 UNIMAID screening notice on the university's own site. What follows is clearly labelled: what press and blogs reported for 2026/2027, what an older UNIMAID notice shows, and what you should confirm yourself.
What the screening is
UNIMAID calls it a pre-admission screening exercise or post-UTME, and it runs a dedicated portal for it. The sources we could read do not describe a test format, subjects or the number of questions for 2026/2027. A 2023 notice, which we can use only as history, covered eligibility and O'level rules without describing the test. So: format not published in the sources we found.
Who was eligible (reported for 2026/2027)
These points are reported by press and blogs, not read from a UNIMAID notice:
- UNIMAID had to be your first choice in the 2026/2027 JAMB process.
- A UTME score of 150 and above, unless your course sets a higher mark.
- O'level results uploaded to your JAMB CAPS profile.
- A non-refundable fee of two thousand naira paid through Remita.
- Enquiries to the admissions office email printed in the reports.
For history, UNIMAID's 2023 notice used a general minimum of 140, required five credits including Mathematics and English Language in no more than two sittings, and asked Direct Entry candidates for a Lower Credit at ND or HND, or Merit at NCE. Rules change, so use the 2023 notice only to see the pattern, never as this year's rule.
How to apply
Reach the UNIMAID post-UTME portal through the link on unimaid.edu.ng; reports name it as the "Post-UTME portal" on that site. We could not resolve the address portal.unimaid.edu.ng/putme that some pages quote, so do not type it from memory. Blog posts say you log in with your JAMB registration number. Do not pay through links shared on social media.
The 2026/2027 timeline (reported)
| Item | What was reported |
|---|---|
| Registration window | 14 June to 14 August 2026 (ULearngo; weekday names in that article do not match the dates, so treat as approximate) |
| Extension | A headline dated 13 August 2026 reports an extension; the new date was not visible to us |
| Screening dates | Not found |
Because of the extension, the original dates may not match the final ones. No 2027 dates are announced; see post-UTME 2027 dates.
Why the gaps matter
A missing notice is not the same as a cancelled screening. Universities sometimes post details as images, PDFs or portal banners that search tools cannot read, and they sometimes extend deadlines at short notice, as the extension headline suggests. So check the portal at the start of each week during the window, and keep screenshots of the notice that you relied on. If two sources disagree, the university's own portal wins.
What is not published (that we could find)
We could not find an official UNIMAID statement of the aggregate formula, test subjects or screening date for 2026/2027. If you see a post that does, check whether it cites UNIMAID. Our aggregate calculator guide shows how to apply a formula once it is confirmed.
A practice plan for UNIMAID
- Bookmark the official sources. Use unimaid.edu.ng and the portal, and ignore unofficial WhatsApp groups.
- Prepare the record. Have your JAMB registration number, O'level uploads and email ready.
- Core drills. English Language, Mathematics and your course subjects, with English practice and Mathematics practice.
- Timed practice. Because the format is unknown, train both speed and accuracy in timed sets. See how to use past questions.
Original example: If 3a = 2b and b = 12, find a. 3a = 24, so a = 8. This question is ours, not from UNIMAID.
Compare BUK and UDUS for other northern schools, and read how to prepare for post-UTME. Nothing here guarantees admission.
Checklist before you pay anything
- Use only the official UNIMAID portal and website for dates; extensions were reported.
- Keep your JAMB registration number and O'level uploads ready.
- Treat any figure from the 2023 notice as history, not this year's rule.
- Pay only through the portal's Remita page.
A six-week schedule
| Week | Focus | Target |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Find the official notice and note the rules | A one-page summary in your own words |
| 2 | Core skills | Three 25-question sets in English Language and Mathematics |
| 3 | Course subjects | Two sets per subject |
| 4 | Timed mixed blocks | 40 questions in about 40 minutes |
| 5 | Adapt to the announced format | Switch to test, document or interview preparation |
| 6 | Review and logistics | Slip, ID, route, sleep |
Because the dates were reported to shift, check the portal weekly. Adjust the weeks if your window is shorter, and cut the number of subjects rather than the number of timed sets.
Two more practice questions
Both are original, written for this guide, and not taken from any UNIMAID paper.
- Find the mean of 4, 8, 9, 11 and 13. Working: The sum is 45, so the mean is 45 ÷ 5 = 9.
- Which gas makes up most of Earth's atmosphere? Working: Nitrogen, at roughly four-fifths.
After each set, write down why you missed a question: a content gap, a careless slip or a time problem. Each needs a different fix.
Practise now
ExamPadi has 46,182 practice questions across JAMB, WAEC, NECO and NABTEB, with timed CBT mode, free practice and a Pro tier, on Android, iOS, web and Windows. Practise for your Post-UTME and keep going. Confirm every date, fee and score on the university's official portal or website before you act; no guide can promise admission.
