JAMB Subject Combination for Anatomy
JAMB subject combination for Anatomy: two 2026 lists disagree on Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. See both and how to confirm yours before registering.
ExamPadi Editorial · Updated · 6 min read
Anatomy is a good example of why you should never register from a summary alone. Two Myschoolnews articles, both describing JAMB's 2026 combinations, give different sets for it.
Use of English and Biology appear in both. After that, the lists differ.
We could not open the JAMB brochure, so we cannot tell you which is right. We show both and tell you how to settle it.
The combination at a glance
| Slot | Subject | Why it matters for the course |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Use of English | Compulsory for every candidate; in both lists |
| 2 | Biology | The study of body structure; in both lists |
| 3 | Chemistry (List 1) or Mathematics (List 2) | The third compulsory subject depends on which list is right |
| 4 | Fourth subject | List 1: Physics or Mathematics. List 2: Chemistry or Physics |
Where the lists disagree
| List 1: Myschoolnews, all courses | List 2: Myschoolnews, science students | |
|---|---|---|
| Compulsory | Use of English, Biology, Chemistry | Use of English, Mathematics, Biology |
| Fourth subject | Physics or Mathematics | Chemistry or Physics |
The practical effect is this: under List 1 you must take Chemistry; under List 2 you must take Mathematics. BusinessDay's 2026 article did not list Anatomy in the part we could read, so it cannot break the tie. A candidate who registers Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics would satisfy both lists, but do not do this on our word. Check the brochure, and ask the department at your target school.
How to settle it
- Open the JAMB brochure (IBASS on jamb.gov.ng) and search for Anatomy, and also for Human Anatomy, the name some schools use.
- Read your target university's admission page for the department.
- If the two disagree, follow the university's page for that school and ask for written confirmation.
Compare also Biochemistry and Microbiology, which are often on the same shortlist and have their own sets.
O'level requirements
O'level requirements vary by school and we did not find a verifiable national list for Anatomy. Check the department's page for the required credits in English, Mathematics and the sciences.
Avoid the usual mistakes
A wrong combination can cost you a whole year, so protect yourself:
- Write down your subjects before you go to the registration centre, and read them back to the officer.
- Do not swap subjects because an agent or a friend says it is fine. Only JAMB's brochure and the institution can tell you what is allowed.
- Check your slip and keep a copy of it.
- Test every choice. If your second choice is a different course, check that the same four subjects satisfy it as well. Our JAMB subject combination guide explains how to compare choices, and changing your course explains what can be corrected later.
Confirm it before you pay
Before you register, run this short check:
- Open JAMB's brochure on jamb.gov.ng and find the entry for the exact course name your school uses.
- Open the admission page of each university on your list, and note any extra requirement, such as a particular O'level grade or a post-UTME screening.
- If a press list, a blog or an agent disagrees with either, follow the brochure and the school, and ask the school in writing if the difference matters.
- Keep a screenshot or copy of the entry you relied on.
This takes less than an hour and removes one of the most common avoidable errors in registration. When we call a list a press summary, we mean it: we are reporting what the outlet printed, not what we read in the brochure.
How to prepare
Until you have confirmed the combination, prepare the subjects that appear under either list:
- Biology and Use of English are certain, so start there.
- Chemistry and Mathematics each appear as a requirement in one list, so keep both warm until you know.
- Physics appears as an option in both lists.
By the registration date you should know exactly which subjects you are taking, and you can then focus. Practise timed papers once your four subjects are fixed.
What about the score?
The combination only gets you through the first door. For the score, read our cut-off mark for Anatomy page, which separates JAMB's national minimum from each school's own figure, and the general guide to the JAMB score needed for admission. The UTME is computer-based, with four subjects, two hours and a score out of 400. The proposed 2027 dates are provisional, so follow the JAMB 2027 UTME date and timetable page.

What is the JAMB subject combination for Anatomy?
The two lists we read disagree. One gives Use of English, Biology and Chemistry plus Physics or Mathematics. The other gives English, Mathematics and Biology plus Chemistry or Physics.
Why do the lists disagree?
We do not know. Both are press summaries of JAMB's 2026 combinations. Only the brochure can settle it.
Which subjects are safe whichever list is right?
Use of English and Biology appear in both. Beyond that, confirm Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in the brochure.
Where do I confirm the official combination?
In JAMB's brochure on jamb.gov.ng (IBASS) and on the admission page of the university you choose.
