JAMB Offline App: Practise Without Data

Is there an official JAMB offline app? What we found, how CBT centres run the UTME, and honest ways to practise past questions offline on phone or PC.

ExamPadi Editorial · Updated · 6 min read

If your data runs out in the middle of revision, you are not alone. Many candidates ask whether there is a JAMB offline app, and the question deserves a careful answer, because scam links tend to fill the gap whenever demand is high. Here is what we found and what you can do.

What JAMB itself offers

JAMB's website lists test installers and manuals under a section for CBT centres, with 2027 versions updated in September 2026. Those are for the accredited centres that run the test, not for candidates at home. They are not a practice app, and they should not be downloaded from any other site.

We did not find an official JAMB offline practice app for candidates. If JAMB announces one, it will appear on jamb.gov.ng. Any "official JAMB app" link sent by message should be treated with suspicion until you see it on JAMB's own site.

Why the UTME runs offline-style at centres

The UTME is a computer-based test run on software at accredited centres. This means candidates do not need to bring a device or any data. Your job on exam day is to practise the interface ahead of time and bring only what the rules allow. Reports on the 2026 rules said phones, earphones, wristwatches and other electronic devices were banned.

Good ways to practise offline

You do not need an official app to practise without data. Options include:

  1. A practice app with downloadable question sets. Download while on a good connection, and practise later without data.
  2. Printed notes and your own mistake list. Your list of errors is the highest-value study material you will ever write.
  3. Your own timed papers. Write 40 questions on paper, time yourself, and mark them.
  4. Offline reading of the syllabus. Save the subject syllabus from JAMB's IBASS while you have data.

Offline practice with ExamPadi

ExamPadi has 46,182 practice questions across JAMB, WAEC, NECO and NABTEB. The mobile apps for Android and iOS support offline practice once you have downloaded questions. The web version needs a connection. There is also a Windows app and a web version for bigger screens. The free tier gives daily practice with answers and explanations, and the Pro tier unlocks full timed mock exams that follow a computer-based format.

Get the right version from the download page, and only from there or from an official app store. If you are choosing between apps, our page on the best JAMB app lists what to look for.

How to use offline time well

  • Plan a data window. Pick a time when you have a connection, download a week of questions, and then switch to airplane mode.
  • Practise by topic. Keep a short list of weak topics and tackle them one at a time.
  • Timed sets. Even offline, set a timer. Pace matters in a computer-based test.
  • Review right away. Note the reason for each miss.
  • Update the downloads. When you reconnect, refresh your question sets and sync progress.

What about PDFs?

PDFs also work offline, but quality varies, and answers are often unexplained. Read the trade-offs in our JAMB past questions PDF guide before you rely on one.

Rehearse the screen, not just the content

Because the exam happens on a computer, practise on a screen as often as you can, even in short bursts. Learn how to navigate between questions, how to flag and return, and how to use the on-screen calculator if your subject offers one. We cover that in the JAMB CBT calculator guide. For a weekly routine, see free CBT practice in Nigeria.

Avoid these traps

  • "Cracked" or "modded" apps. They can contain harmful software and often have old or wrong questions.
  • Apps that ask for your JAMB password or profile code. No practice app needs these.
  • Links sent through WhatsApp or SMS. Use the official store or download page.
  • "Expo" apps. Leaked-paper promises are scams.

A realistic offline weekly plan

If you have data only on certain days, plan around it:

DayAction
Connection dayDownload your question sets, refresh progress, read any updates
Next three daysOffline timed sets in two subjects, with a mistake notebook
Mid-week connectionQuick sync and check explanations you were unsure about
WeekendOne longer timed set, then a full review

Keep your phone charged, avoid distractions by turning off mobile data, and treat offline time as protected study time. Over a month, this routine adds up to a large amount of practice at almost no data cost. It also teaches you to rely on your own working instead of searching for answers.

Finally, protect your device. Install apps only from official stores, keep your phone's storage free so downloads do not fail, and back up your mistake notebook with a photo each week. Small habits like these keep offline study running smoothly.

Start with one download

If data is your worry, make a plan today: download a week of questions in your weakest subject, practise offline, and review each night. A modest, regular habit beats a long session once a month. Open the JAMB practice hub when you next have a connection. We cannot promise a score, but you can remove data as an excuse.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official JAMB offline app for candidates?

We did not find one. JAMB's website lists CBT test installers and manuals for accredited centres, not a candidate practice app. Check jamb.gov.ng for any official announcement.

Can I practise JAMB questions without data?

Yes. Download questions in the ExamPadi mobile app while online, then practise offline. The web version needs a connection.

Will an offline app work on exam day?

The UTME runs on software at an accredited centre. A practice app only helps you prepare. It does not replace the centre system.

Is it safe to install an app from a link?

Install apps only from official stores or the official download page. Avoid links shared in messages.
