How to Check Your JAMB Result (Official Channels)

ExamPadi Editorial · Updated · 7 min read

Waiting for your JAMB result is stressful enough without having to wonder whether the website you are using is real. This guide shows the official ways to check your UTME result, the errors that trip candidates up, and what to do next. ExamPadi does not check results for you, so we point you to JAMB's own channels only.

Two official ways to check

1. By SMS

Reports of the 2026 results say you send a text message to 55019, with 66019 also listed as a short code. Reports disagree on the message itself: most guides give the keyword UTMERESULT, while Nairametrics reported "RESULT" followed by the registration number. Check the wording in JAMB's latest notice before you send. Use the same phone number you used for your JAMB profile. Reported charges range from N50 to N100, so keep enough airtime.

2. On the e-Facility portal

Go to efacility.jamb.gov.ng, JAMB's candidate portal, and log in with the credentials you created when you registered. Your result appears in your account once JAMB releases it. Always type the address yourself or use a link from jamb.gov.ng. Do not click links sent through messages or social media.

Slip printing

Some candidates need a printed result slip, for example for school screening. If JAMB opens slip printing, it will be through the e-Facility portal. A figure of about N1,500 has been quoted by blogs, but we could not confirm it from an official source, so check the amount on the portal before you pay. Never pay an individual who says they can "print" or "load" a slip for you.

Common errors and how to handle them

  • No response from the SMS. Check that you used the phone number linked to your profile, that you typed the keyword correctly, and that you have enough airtime. Wait a few minutes and try again.
  • Login problems. Use the email or registration details you set up. Use the "forgot password" option on the official portal.
  • Result not yet available. JAMB releases results after its evaluation process. Early releases are sometimes in batches, so a friend's result appearing first is not unusual.
  • Mismatched name or details. If your details are wrong, you will need to follow JAMB's data-correction process. See JAMB change of course for the portal route used for corrections.
  • NIN issues. Problems with your National Identification Number can block registration or profile access. See the JAMB NIN requirement.

Fake slips and PIN touts

Fake result slips and false "result checker" sites circulate around release time. Protect yourself:

  1. Use only JAMB's own domains, such as jamb.gov.ng and efacility.jamb.gov.ng.
  2. Do not pay for a "result PIN" for the UTME. The official methods are the SMS service and your e-Facility account, and neither needs a scratch card.
  3. Do not give your password, profile code or NIN to anyone.
  4. Be wary of anyone who offers to change or upgrade a score. JAMB has publicly warned against score manipulation, and offers like that are scams.

If a result looks unusual, the safest step is to check it again on the official portal, not to ask a stranger.

What your score means

Your UTME score is out of 400, with each of four subjects marked out of 100. Your score is compared with the national minimum and with your target school's cut-off. For 2026, reports said the minimum was 150 for universities and 100 for polytechnics, and schools may go higher. Our guide on the JAMB score you need for admission explains this in detail.

What next after the result

  1. Review your options. If your score is below your first-choice course's level, consider a change of course or institution.
  2. Prepare for post-UTME. Many universities screen candidates after the UTME. Our post-UTME aggregate calculator guide shows how your UTME and screening scores can combine.
  3. Watch CAPS. Admissions are processed in JAMB's Central Admissions Processing System. See how to check JAMB admission status.
  4. Use the waiting time well. Our guide to what to do while waiting for JAMB has practical ideas.

Keep your result safe

Once you have seen your result, treat it as a private document:

  • Save the details. Write down your registration number and score, and keep a clean screenshot or printout where only you can find it.
  • Do not post your slip publicly. It contains personal information that scammers can misuse.
  • Back up your login details in a safe place, because you will need the same account for CAPS and for any later correction.
  • Ignore anyone who asks you to pay to "confirm" your score. The official portal and SMS service are enough.

If your score is lower than expected, give yourself a day before making big decisions. Then look at your realistic options with a clear head.

One more tip: do your first check at home, on a stable connection, with a parent or trusted friend nearby. Results can be emotional, and having someone there helps whichever way the number falls. Avoid checking in a crowded cybercafe where others can see your login details over your shoulder.

A note about ExamPadi
